T.D. Jakes Releases Sacred Love Songs 2—Inspired by His New Hit Movie Jumping the Broom

"Sacred Love Songs 2" Debuts May 31

Grammy-award winner T.D. Jakes' record label Dexterity Sounds will release Sacred Love Songs 2 on May 31, the second installment of the Sacred Love Songs series. The compilation album was inspired by the film Jumping the Broom (Tri-Star/Columbia Pictures), which is now the No. 1 comedy in the nation after opening in theaters on May 6.

The album features romantic love songs that pair talented gospel, R&B and pop music artists who perform new songs and classic hits. Artists include: T.D. Jakes, Joe, Karen Clark Sheard, Kirk Whalum, El DeBarge, Bishop Paul Morton, Fred Hammond, Ledisi, Micah Stampley, Crystal Aikin, Terry Thomas and Anaysha Figueroa. The album is the first joint venture between Universal Christian Music Group, T.D. Jakes and Dexterity Sounds.

Sacred Love Songs 2 features 12 songs plus spoken words from T.D. Jakes that encourage couples to love each other as instructed by the Bible.

"The intent behind Sacred Love Songs 2 is to draw hearts back to love as God intended. Consider Song of Solomon, in which the Bible poignantly displays romance from a biblical perspective. It is the common language of romance that links film and music together, which is why the film Jumping the Broom helped to inspire a new Sacred Love Songs album," said T.D. Jakes, executive producer of the album and founder and senior pastor of The Potter’s House church in Dallas.

Originally released by Kirk Franklin in 1997, the lead single "Love" on Sacred Love Songs 2 is re-mastered and sung by Anaysha Figueroa and also features T.D. Jakes. The artist Joe reached no. 2 on Urban Adult Contemporary radio's Most Added Track for the single "Closer," featured on Sacred Love Songs 2. El DeBarge lends his single “How Could You Love Me” from his solo project Second Chance. Fred Hammond sings "My Lady & Myself," while Micah Stampley covers Brian McKnight's "Back At One." BET's Sunday Best first season winner Crystal Aikin contributes her new track "Just Take My Heart" to the project. T.D. Jakes and Cedric Caldwell are the album's executive producers.
