Taking a Bite out of Food Inflation: A “Mega Feast” to Feed Thousands Amidst Economic Strain

T.D. Jakes’ global humanitarian organization United MegaCARE to provide 2,000 North Texas families with groceries 

Middle class families are feeling the pinch of food inflation. In response to rising food prices, and to help families from skipping certain foods at grocery stores to combat high costs, United MegaCARE, a global philanthropic organization founded by Bishop T.D. Jakes, is hosting a drive-thru distribution to provide 2,000 families with groceries that will feed a total of 12,0000 people. 

The “Mega Feast” happening hours before the city of Dallas hosts the 2024 International Leadership Summit, where more than 6,000 leaders from around the world will come to North Texas to learn how to navigate the social, economic and technological fluctuations around the world, rising economic costs being one of them. 

Helping are more than 100 volunteers including conference attendees, The Potter’s House, The Potter’s House North Dallas, The Potter’s House Fort Worth and Wells Fargo, a financial supporter and sponsor of International Leadership Summit, will also pack the food in advance and prepare it for distribution. Families can expect beef, chicken breast, breakfast meats, an array of vegetables, mashed potatoes and dinner rolls.

WHY: 
In the last year consumer prices rose 3.1% from Jan. 2023—Jan.2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. On average, U.S. households are paying $213 more a month to purchase the same goods and services from a year ago, according to Moody’s Analytics. 

Mega Feast comes ahead of the 2024 International Leadership Summit, March 21-23, where people from more than 10 countries will gather at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. International Leadership Summit organizers alongside United MegaCARE are alarmed by the new reports and aim to address food inflation and help North Texas families.

The International Leadership Summit, for which Wells Fargo is the presenting sponsor, will be the first of three conferences the T.D. Jakes Group will host in 2024 to empower leaders and diverse communities around the world.
